If you are entering the job market right now, the landscape looks very different from a few years ago.
According to LinkedIn’s Grads’ Guide 2026, roles like AI Specialist, Generative AI Engineer, and Digital Content Creator are among the fastest-growing jobs for fresh graduates in India. The demand is not limited to tech alone. Business and people-focused roles are also opening up in large numbers.
WHERE THE JOBS ARE GROWING
The report shows that hiring is expanding across multiple sectors and functions, giving freshers more options than before.

What stands out is how opportunities are no longer limited to traditional IT roles. Sectors like utilities, education, and government administration are now actively hiring fresh talent.
SMALL COMPANIES AND SMALL CITIES STEP UP
Another big shift is where these jobs are coming from.
Smaller firms are becoming major hiring hubs. For bachelor’s degree holders, hiring in companies with just 1 to 10 employees grew by 64 percent between 2023 and 2025. Across all entry-level roles, this growth touched 168 percent.
At the same time, non-metro cities are gaining ground. Places like Vijayawada, Bhopal, Jaipur, Indore, Gwalior, and Vadodara are now part of the hiring story, offering opportunities beyond the usual metro cities.
INTERNSHIPS ARE BECOMING CRUCIAL
The report also shows a clear trend. More freshers entering jobs today have internship experience compared to a few years ago.
The biggest jump has been seen in fields like legal, consulting, engineering, product management, and business development. Even post-graduation internships are rising, especially in IT, marketing, and project management roles.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR FRESHERS
The message is simple. The job market is wider, but also more skill-focused.
LinkedIn’s career experts say freshers should stay open to different roles, industries, and cities. Instead of applying everywhere, focusing on roles where your skills match can improve your chances.
The early career path today is not always straight. But for those willing to adapt, the opportunities are clearly expanding.
